App to track corona virus patients near you

The Indian government on Thursday launched an application, AAROGYA SETU  to fight corona virus epidemic in India ,which notifies its users if they are in a close proximity to a person who is already infected with novel corona virus.

The app is developed by National Informatics Centre and was being tested from weeks named as Corona Kawach and now launched as AAROGYA SETU.

The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19.

How it works !

After installing the app you have to register with your mobile number and authenticate the same with following an OTP . The app turns on your Smartphone's  Bluetooth and GPS after installation and with the help of your geographical coordinates it alerts about your interaction with someone who could have tested COVID-19 positive. The app generates a social graph for the same.

The app alerts you if you have been in close proximity of ,even unknowingly, a COVID-19 positive.
Moreover alerts are  accompanied with  instructions on how to self-isolate and what to do in case you develop symptoms that may need help and support.

Aarogya setu app also shows COVID-19 help centres  for each state and Union territories and also has a built in self assessment test which tells it user if they are at risk by asking some basic questions.
The app also enlightens DO's and Dont's ,safety measures and some myth busters about COVID-19.

The app is available in 11 languages and you can download it from Play store and Apple app store.
