Tutorial: How to use Pendrive as RAM

Your Computer uses two types of memories Hard Disk and RAM(Random Access Memory). The Hard Disk is secondary memory which computer uses to store all the data required by a program to run.

When the required program runs all the data related to it is pushed into RAM, ready for processing as RAM is much faster than Hard Disk (around 10 times faster ) .But as its costly , its use is limited .

So in this post i would be explaining how to use your Pen drive as  a RAM .

This could boost your PC's speed and will also result in a fast workflow on your PC.

HOW TO USE YOUR PEN DRIVE AS A RAM

1. Insert your Flash Drive (Pen Drive) and then Format it so that no data is left on Pen Drive.
                                                                                         
2. After Formatting it now rename this Pen Drive as "RAM"
3. Now Right Click on my computer and select properties .
   
                               
4. Under Performance click "Settings" .                                    
5. Now Switch to "Advance" tab then under "Virtual Memory" Click "Change "                                         
      
6. Select your Pen Drive from the list of Drives which would be labeled as "RAM" then select the radio button labeled as " Custom Size ". You will see your Pen Drive size .(Which would be less 5Mb of the original size)                                      
   
   
7. Now type this number which you saw as your memory size in the first box.
8. Now again type the same number in the second box as entered above in the first box.
9. Click "Set" and then "Ok"
10. Click "Apply" then Click "Ok"
11. Restart Your PC to experience the Effect .

    Warning :

    Remember never to remove Pen Drive when its being used as RAM as this could permanently make your Pen Drive unusable.

Removal Of Pen Drive As RAM

Go to step 6 above and select "No Paging File" and this will again revert your Pen Drive into your Pen Drive.

If you are facing any difficulty while following the above instruction or you face an error then you can try "eBoostr".

Things You must Know

Though using Pen Drive would really boost your performance but it can never place the original RAM .

The Pen Drive has range of Read and Write cycles and if the above steps are used permanently then your Pen Drive would not last long  .

So this above method should be used occasionally .
