Samsung Galaxy S IV : Launch Analysis

The Galaxy S4 launched by Samsung in New York at Radio City Music Hall.

Expected Price: NOT ANNOUNCED! Probably because the Korean giant is still negotiating pricing with carriers and retailers. The phone is expected to go on sale in late April, and if past prices are to be considered, then it will probably cost about the same as the iPhone 5. If the volumes are to be talked of then SIV will probably break records of SIII, SII or S as huge volumes are expected to be shipped, though Samsung is refraining from revealing its expected sales figure.

Analyst all over the world argues the media hype that SIV has brought for Samsung.
This shows how strong Samsung as a brand has come up driven by its technical prowess and effectively pricing of its Galaxy series of phones. The media buzz is also driven by the fact that ‘will it be able to give iPhone 5 a run for its money?’ Also the recognization it gets from its user-base attracts stories in media.

“I believe the Samsung Galaxy S4 may represent an important milestone for the Korean company as it may become the first smartphone to outsell an iPhone." Says an analyst at research firm IDC.
The Galaxy S3 sold fewer units than the iPhone 5; Samsung's overall larger number comes from selling a huge portfolio of smartphones at all prices.

The uplift in the feel and looks of SIV is also prominent. SIV looks and feels better than SIII.  The body is covered with a metal band, which gives it a premium look and feel. At the same time the plastic backing, which was found on previous Galaxy devices, is still present. What really stands out is the range of software features that Samsung announced at the event. The company has utilized the device sensors, including new features like temperature and humidity, to gain an advantage by differentiating from its competitors.

Samsung has been constantly accused of spending more on marketing than on R&D, thus putting pressure on Samsung to keep on bringing innovation to engage current and future smartphone users, a challenge already being faced by Apple.
For few it is yet another up gradation of SIII, a tactic used well enough by many to drive their sales.

But we at T2C believe change can be delayed but it is inevitable.
