Apple’s Best Apps of 2012


Apple has revealed names of its favorite apps of iPhone and iPad for 2012. 



Paper and Action Movie FX has been named as the best app of iPad and iPhone respectively.
Action Movie FX allows users to add visual effects to the videos , while Paper is a virtual notebook for writing, drawing, sketching, colouring and outlining

                    


Best-selling apps:

WhatsApp, the cross-platform messenger has been crowned as the best-selling iPhone app while Apple’s own word processing app Pages is best-selling iPad app.




Free apps of the year:

Ironically, Youtube app owned by Apple’s biggest adversary clinched the number one free iPhone app of the year title. Earlier this year Apple dropped the pre-installation of the Youtube app from iOS 6.  The top free app for the iPad was Skype, the video calling service owned by Microsoft.

                     


Top Game

Top Game for iPhone was Rayman Jungle Run followed by Super-Hexagon, and The Room was the top iPad game followed by real-time strategy game Eufloria.
                        
                    


Editor’s pick:

Airbnb - the travel service was editor picked app for iPhone, while Hailo- a taxi app was its runner-up.
                    


Green Kitchen - a recipe app for vegetarian, iPhoto, Sydney food trucks apps also gained mention.

             
        

Also, Apple named Emeli Sande as artist of the year, while Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepson was song of the year for its iTunes review.
